     “ Bangkok ”

    “Bangkok” or “Krung Thep Maha Nakhon” was established as the capital city of Thailand in 1782,the year King Rama I ascended the throne. During the reign of King RamaV, the territorial administration of the country was reformed between 1894-1906 into a number of areas called “Monthon”. Bangkok was in Monthon Krung Thep, which was under the Ministry of Urban Affairs.

    “Krung Thep” is an abbreviated name of the city.   Its full name is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest name of a place:  Krungthep Maha NakhonAmon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Yutthaya Maha Dilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet MahaSathan Amon PhimanAwatan Sathit Sakka Thattiya Witsanu KamPrasit.
    “Krung Thep” is meaning  The city of angels, the great city, the eternal jewel city, the impregnable city of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous royal palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated God, a city given by Indra and built by Vihnukarn”.
    Bangkok today widely is considered to be one of the most dynamic and colorful cities in Asia.  Its history is no less a colorful transformation from a sleepy village to a fast-paced 21st century mega city, with a modern city skyline.  Bangkok has considerable cultural and historical significance, from the early days of the “Rattanakosin Era” to its expansion in the nineteenth century. Bangkok’s evolution into the current regional hub of Asian came about while preserving the city’s unique soul and character, with its landmarks of temples and palaces that remain relatively unchanged over the years.
    Today’s Bangkok sprawls in every direction, extending beyond a horizon bristling with skyscrapers, elevated expressways and sky trains, blending colonial, contemporary and commercial shop houses, residential areas,pockets of greenery, and glittering temples. Bangkok has modernized into a 21st century metropolis with its energetic cosmopolitan flair for merging east and west.
    Bangkok has become not only the gateway to Thailand, but also a regional center for tourists and business visitors.  The city is a natural hub for Asia, with its close proximity to Indochina and its strategic location between the growing markets of India and China. Bangkok and the Greater Bangkok Metropolitan area, including its neighboring provinces, have increasingly become a regional strategic location for investments such as those from Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese manufacturers and traders.
